Tip bit #21: Change the word

When you study for a multiple-choice exam, such as MBE, you need to read the questions  and options very carefully.  Your choice of the answer may depend on just one word.   Can you recognize those powerful words that trigger legal standards, call for doctrines, or cunningly distract you?  To practice identifying such words, try the following game.  Once you solve the original hypothetical question, go back and change one or two words in the question in such a way that alters your analysis.  Rewrite the hypo and see where it takes you.  It’s a good game to play with your study group if you participate in one.
